SkyToll’s statement on winning the tender to operate the electronic toll system in the Czech Republic

SkyToll and CzechToll of the PPF Group welcome the decision of the Transport Ministry of the Czech Republic. The Ministry has decided on the tender winner for the new toll system operator in the Czech Republic. Following the resolution of objections filed by the previous operator, Kapsch, at the Protection of Competition Office, the consortium of both companies is prepared to immediately sign corresponding contracts so that the new system is fully operational by 1 January 2020.

SkyToll belongs to a consortium with the technical solution supplier. CzechToll is the strategic partner. Its participation is part of the PPF Group’s broader strategy in the telecommunication infrastructure field.

The consortium offered state-of-the-art technology (GNSS) within the tender of the Transport Ministry of the Czech Republic. It will use a GPS identification system to locate the positions of vehicles, including optional enhancement with the European GALILEO system. The maximum use of microwave technology (DSRC) at the control gantries will be applied for controlling purposes. The total operating cost of the SkyToll and CzechToll consortium’s new toll system is 106.6 million Euros (2.7 billion Czech crowns) lower than the second best offer Kapsch presented to the Transport Ministry of the Czech Republic.
