The toll road network will be expanded with new sections of D1 and R2 from January 2026

Bratislava, 16 December 2025 – From 1 January 2026, the list of specified sections of Slovak motorways and 1^st and 2^nd category roads with electronic toll collection will be adjusted. The most significant adjustment is the inclusion of new sections of the D1 motorway and the R2 expressway.

As of 1 January 2026, the new sections of motorways and expressways will be added to the list of specified road sections with electronic toll collection, which will significantly increase driving comfort on the Slovak road network. This is the Kriváň – Mýtna section of the R2 expressway, stretching over 10.6 km. Furthermore, the Lietavská Lúčka – Dubná Skala section of the D1 motorway, stretching over 13.3 km, will be added, including the Višňové tunnel, which itself accounts for 7.5 km. Parallel sections of 1^st category roads will, in this case, be subject to toll payment with deferred force starting from 1 March 2026.

The list will also include the 13.4 km long Hubová – Ivachnová section of the D1 motorway, including the 3.6 km Čebrať tunnel, which will be commissioned in the first half of 2026. Parallel sections of 1^st category roads will, in this case, be subject to toll payment with deferred force starting from 1 July 2026.

In addition to the inclusion of new structures, further adjustments will be made to the list of specified road sections from 1 January 2026. On the motorway network, this will mainly concern toll collection on the R1 expressway in Banská Bystrica. On 1^st category roads, the traffic signs marking the start and the end of municipalities are being moved, the specified road sections are being adjusted in connection with the construction of the Valaliky industrial park, adjustments to designated sections within the built-up area of Trnava and technical modifications to the attributes of individual sections are being implemented. On 2^nd category roads the specified section of the road II/526 in the town of Hnúšťa will be divided.

The aim of these adjustments is to harmonize the list of specified road sections with the current state of road infrastructure and traffic signs. After all the adjustments, the length of the specified road sections will increase by more than 27 km to 8 309.977 km as of 1 January 2026.
